Balzer Architecture is dedicated to creating thoughtful and humane responses to the built environment through simple design strategies and carefully curated materials. We believe that every design should be tailored to the needs and aspirations of each client, and strive to create universally approachable projects with site-specific designs.

At the heart of our design philosophy is the belief that the spaces we create should enhance and enrich the lives of those who occupy them. We prioritize the human experience in all our projects and seek to create places that are not only functional but beautiful and inviting.

We endeavor to find opportunity and inspiration in unexpected places throughout all of our projects. Challenging conventions, re-imagining how people interact with the spaces around us, and thinking beyond the building to broader contexts has become an integral part of our design process.

Our approach to design is highly collaborative. Open communication among clients, consultants, fabricators, and builders is essential to the success of any project. We work closely with our clients to understand their needs and aspirations, and use this dialogue to translate concepts into meaningful and impactful spaces.

DREW BALZER, RA

Drew Balzer is the founder and principal of Balzer Architecture based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A native of Southwest Virginia, he received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Tennessee in 2008 and has over 15 years of experience in the design industry. Drew approaches design through analytical processes to develop straightforward design solutions with his clients, and has worked on a wide array of building typologies ranging from large academic buildings and commercial office spaces to private residences and renovations.
